  1. Dear All,

I have a MPEG movie (filename.mpeg; but not sure if it is mpeg 1 or mpeg 2, etc) but when I try to play it in Window Media player, there is a picture but no sound.

When I first played it in Wmedia player, I allowed it to download the CODEC and install it from Microsoft directly. But no sound still.

How can I overcome this problem so that I can watch MPEG file on my PC? Thanks.

Or should I download another better software?
( I tried Real's XINGplayer 3.3 - result was worse.. When I try to click open the file, XING crashes...)

So far, I can watch DAT files with sound.. no problems but only MPEG.

Thanks for reading and offering of suggestions

    Appreciated.

it may be a mpeg2 and then you need mpeg2 codecs, install either or software dvd player or try the mpeg2 codec pack http://www.vcdhelp.com/vcdtools.htm
