    I read some interesting posts over the past few days with individuals who were having the same problem as me.
    When converting a AVI Divx to MpEG1 VCD,the audio would end up about 1.5 to 2 seconds out of sync for the entire movie.
    I tried everything including patiently doing the Out Of Sync suggestion on this DVDHELP home page (TMPGE and Goldwave)but nothing worked.
    Finally,I got so fed up I just blitzed ahead and burned it anyway and lo and behold it synced back up again.Why??
    I've no idea!
