  1. If I were to replace my 17 inch crt monitor with a new flat screen so that the video editing I do shows as near as possible what will show on my dvd player to my tv, which computer monitor should I get?

As we know this is a regular issue raised, and I am hoping I can solve it.

    Thanks for your advice.

Computer oriented flat screen LCD's are very different in color response to a TV and shouldn't be used for quality judgement. They are OK for edit decisions.

A true video oriented LCD is an expensive beast currently.

Vegas 6 added support for this type of LCD monitor.

CRT video monitors are by far more affordable.

A quality HD Ready TV (in 480i/576i mode) makes a good poor man's substitute.

Next best would be to use a LCD TV that has TV gamma and black levels.

Most cheap LCD TVs are just computer panels with a TV tuner and have poor blacks.

Depends to what exactly you are referring...are you trying to compare image color/sharpness, screen size, output dimensions?
