this is the direct link. 'saving as is' only saves it in a ASP extension. I used several programs like Snag It, Cam Studio, and Image Grab neither work and only record a black screen. any ideas?

If you install Net Transport , it will give you a right mouse button addition to your context menu - "Download By NetTransport" , if you right click on the link you gave it will do all the parsing of the url for you , tell the program where you want it saved and click OK , then it`ll download the wmv file for you .

As a sidenote please quantify what isnt working , is the program not starting or does it throw up an error or not connect ?
As a guess , I take it you havent put a URL into it ? go to the asx file you downloaded and rename its suffix to .txt , open the file and take a look inside and copy the bits inside the inverted commas and paste them into WMRecorder . Or install Net Transport and let it do it for you .
If you dont know what a URL is , then google it .
