  1. Hello,

Here's a question, I did try to do a search but couldn't find an answer.
So, I have an AVI (DIVX) rip of a DVD. I also have two CBR commentary tracks, which I used AVI GUI (I think) to add the commentary tracks to the AVI video file, now I have one AVI that has three audio tracks.

Problem, if I try to import this AVI into NeroVision to basically make a DVD i get an error, no luck with Roxio either. So I do I use this AVI and convert to DVD while maintaining all 3 audio tracks?

    Thanks for any help

There are two ways I can think of to do this.

    1. The payware version of DivxtoDVD supports mutliple audio tracks. You don't get menus, but the conversion is fast and painless.

    2. Use virtualdub to demux your audio tracks to uncompressed wav files, then ffmpeg to convert these to AC3. Encode your avi to DVD compliant mpeg by resizing in virtualdub and frameserving to a good encoder. Author the results in DVD Lab Pro as it supports multiple audio tracks.

While the second sounds more complex, and will take longer, it is a technique worth knowing as it produces far superior results to any one-click program.

  3. Thanks,

I've given thought to trying DivxtoDVD, but I'll consider trying the other method to learn.

Any thought as to why some programs will now reject this AVI file while still acceting the original?

It just depends on how they are written. Some will take the avi and first audio track, then ignore the rest, while others, as you have found, just reject the whole lot outright.

If you look at DivxtoDVD, make sure it isn't the older freeware version, as this only supports a single audio track.

  5. Thanks

I found out late last night playing with this that the freeware isn't any good for this as that was my first "quick fix"

It's getting quite hard to find on the internet anymore, but AVIMux v0.4 (NOT AVIMux-GUI) is great-fast, simple, bugfree-in this respect.

  8. I think I'm going to try AVItoDVD when i get home from work. I am still perplexed as to why the AVI with 3 audio tracks can't be imported into Nero. Another strange thing also: After I used the program to Create the AVI with multiple audio, windows media player only played like 20 sec of the file, even though the file is like 680 mb. If I used my DIVX player all was well. Strange
