Convert pal to ntsc dvd.

I was'nt sure what forum this really belonged in so I put it here.

I have a pal format dvd and want to know the easiest way to convert it to ntsc format, please.

There is no easy way, however if you use the search function and look at the guides under convert you will find a variety of methods. Start with DGPulldown. However the results will never rival the results you would get from buying a cheap multi-format player.

If you live in the USA look for the Cyberhome CH-DVD 300S

This is a DVD player that commenly goes for about $40.00 at various retail outlets.

It will play any region DVD and will convert PAL to NTSC and does a fairly damn good job at it too.

BEST BUY has it. So does WALMART and probably a few other places (I think I've seen it at CIRCUIT CITY as well).

Next to that then re-encoding with DGPulldown is probably the way to go but it can be a bit "complicated" and you can't really use the original menu design (at least without a ton of nearly impossible hard work).

Playing for me is not a problem...all of my dvd players will play anything.
I need to convert it for a friend. I will look into dgpulldown.

what you could do is extract the files from the DVD to your computer using DVDshrink or something similar as long as its inthe VTS/VOB format. Find IFOedit and open the VIDEO_TS and VTS files. IN the lower box it will show PAL. double clikc that and you can change it to NTSC. IF you dont see anything in the lower box keep clicking one of the movie files above. I did this on a movie and turned out alright. I reburned it then
