I didn't even have to use any of my coupons - the cashier had one and scanned it for me - twice! My local Costco has a ton of 'em - will try to pick up more tomorrow as they're selling like hotcakes - hope they have some more left. Media code is TTG02 - they burn beautifully on my Pio 108.
Anyone else pick up any?

I bought the same thing today without a hitch, but they charged the tax on the hole thing which ticked me off. Did they do the same thing to you?

Bought 200 and will be returned to Costco today. Tried 5 disks on
Plextor 712A and LiteOn812@832. Burned at either 2X or 4X. All
5 disks show serious problems after 3.5G. they were all burned
successfully. But afterward testing show that its PIF is greater that
10 and the CD speed drops to 2X or unreadable once it passes 3G
mark. Maybe I just got a bad batch or my burnner does not work
for this media code. -
TTG02 does NOT work well with either of those drives, I can attest to that fact. They burn better than anything else on my Pioneer A09 and my LG 4163B though. They're decent on my PX-716A (much better than with my 712A or 812S).

You know, that is obviously an unreal price (~$0.21/each) for 8X DVD-Rs if they work. These obviously don't for you -- or you just got bad luck.Originally Posted by xxiangg
Sam's club has Verbatim 16X white inkjet printable DVD+Rs which work great with the above drives, but cost about twice the price ($42.00/100), which is still AFAI'm concerned a great price. -
For those interested I have called the State Board of equalization regarding the taxing process. They told me that I should have only had to pay tax on the sale amount and not the retail amount.
I know its only like $6 but it just burns me to pay additional tax when its not necesarry. -
That depends on your State Tax Laws. Here in Maryland, you pay sales tax on the price BEFORE coupon discount. The same applies to cores (trade in's on automotive rebuilt parts), rebates, etc. Now, if the item is truely on sale (does not require a coupon) then you pay sales tax on the sales price.Originally Posted by dun4cheap

Same here in NYC. What the heck, I really can't complain anyway - it's still a great bargain: $49 for 200 Printable 8X - less than .25 each.Originally Posted by Dr_Layne

Yeah, they did. But it's still a bargain: less than .25 for each disk.Originally Posted by dun4cheap

That's too bad. My burns on my Pio 108 test and play beautifully - I never use my Lite-On for anything other than testing and playing. Haven't had any problems on any of my standalones, portables, laptops, desktops, or car player.Originally Posted by xxiangg

Are these TDK DVD-R's totally blank labels? Or do they have the TDK stamp somewhere on there?
I got the coupon ages ago and forgot that they were doing it... :P Thanks for the reminder.
Oh yeah, how well do they work with the Casio CD Thermal Printer?"*sigh* Warned you, we tried. Listen, you did not. Now SCREWED, we all will be!" ~Yoda -
my liteon 812@832 loves the TDK TTG02 non printable blue grey surfaceOriginally Posted by xxiangg
best burns the drive has ever produced are with these disks
standalones including my playstation 2 get on with them very well too
not a single problem in 100+ data disks and 50+ movie DVDs
cheapest iv ever picked them up in the uk is £0.30 per disk
yet in the US you can get them for $0.21 (almost 1/3 of the UK price)
may be worth me getting some shipped from someone i know in the US

I go to Frys to buy my DVD +R 's and they just cost $10.00 for a 50 pack and $5.50 for a 25 pack of GQ (Great Quality) 8X DVD+R. I think they are cheap DVDs but I have never messed up a burned once on my SOny DVD Burner DRU-710A.

They burn fine on my 4 Pioneer DVR108s. My drives are hooked up via firewire and they are enclosed in a 4 bay external case. Took 8 minutes to burn to all 4 simultaneosly.
I did speak to Costco's Corporate Tax people yesterday and they are going to get back to me. The BOE of CA suggested that I file a complaint in their local field office. However I did speak with Costco's tax people and they are suppose to get back to me today.
wicked187 saidI to have 2 Fry's stores local but I choose not to buy their DVD media. It has been very unreliable. My usual source for dvd media is www.finodisc.com . These disc are 100 for $32, bright white full faced media. They also sell the dvd cases for like 100 for $9, but I usually see this vendor at local computer fairs.I go to Frys to buy my DVD +R 's and they just cost $10.00 for a 50 pack and $5.50 for a 25 pack of GQ (Great Quality) 8X DVD+R. I have a project soon that will sell about 300-400 DVDs coming up, so I am stocking now. It is a good price at costco, I just hate unexplained tax. It does not make sense, sales tax is supposed to charged on what you spend, not the retail value of the product. -
zgrm, only one way to find out. I imagine they will burn fine, though the 510 is getting to be a relic. I finally gave my Dru500a to my nephew.. Anyhow, today is the last day of the sale. Pick some up and try them. If they don't work, costco will gladly give you a full refund without any complaints.
Just another reason I like to buy stuff from them.. -
That depends on the state.Originally Posted by dun4cheapRecommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.

I have a Sony DRU-710A and have had mixed results with GQ DVD +R media. Different packs with same SKU and DVDinfo codes vary in burn reliabilty (silver were worse than gold top this last time) but they seem to choke in some of my DVD players after burning. Pioneer will play them. Cyberhome won't play any, just rejects them. NextBase player likes the gold ones, not the silver ones.Originally Posted by Wicked187
I just use them for computer data. Never again for DVD players.
The problem with GQ is you can't predict performance batch to batch.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.

i got these
there was 2 dvd-r's both ened up same media code, using differnt spindles, one spindle may be going back to get replaced as it seems like its older batch and it doesnt burn as well
