How dfo i do this please?
I have got the latest Nero, XP media edition computer. 3.2GHZ Pent 4, 1GB Ram 2 x 186 hard drives.

How much time and effort do you want to put into this ?
If you want to learn the details and have as much control as possible to try and get the highest quality possible, then I would suggest
avisynth or virtualdub for filtering and resizing
CCE Basic or Procoder Express for encoding (Tmpgenc is also good, but for my money prohibitively slow)
Photoshop for menu prep (still menus)
DVD Lab Pro for authoring if you want to get complex, tmpgenc DVD author for simpler menus
If, on the other hand, you just want to get your avi onto DVD with reasonably good quality (no worse than the original avi) and with minimal effort, and you don't want menus, VSO DivxtoDVD is probably the best one-click-wonder availableRead my blog here.
