  1. How can I emulate Windows XP on linux? I don't want to use Wine, because unfortunately in the stage its in now it doesn't support enough applications that I need. I also would like to try a free emulator before Crossover Office, because it only provides limited support of many apps as well. Does anyone know of some free emulators for Linux that will let you run windows? I'm running Kubuntu 5.04. Maybe QEMU or Boches, are there any good guides or easy ways to get these setup?

  2. Don't know of any free one...

For flawless WinXP usage, you will have to go the whole hog and run something like VMWare...

How much is the linux version of VMWare? What about Win4Lin Pro?

Would QEMU, a free emulator, work for this? I know it emulates a lot of OSes, unfortunately I've had a terrible time trying to get it to work before, are there any guides out there to make it easier?

  4. I don't know about the others but VMWare isn't cheap. It's about $US 200.

You could always try the evaluation: https://www.vmware.com/download/workstation.html
