I haven't used the TV tuner of my Asus V7100 Deluxe Combo for a while now. After I installed the WDM 1.19 driver, I get only noise from the audio connector.

    Any ideas?

    I see , xp with sp1 , thats fun .... not ...

Tuner , must be one of those later jobs that dosent have rca input .

If its the later , and you have tried everything possible , then the problem is with .

1: the cable you have connected to device (most unlikely)
2: Linein on sound capture device suspect .

Check cable or swap with known working cable .

I would sugest you feed the source via a vcr , so as too split the video and audio into two seperate outputs .

The audio rca output from vcr needs conversion cable so as to install in linein on sound device .

You will also need to source an rca to rf conversion cable so you can connect the video out from vcr to the inbiult video tuner on the video card .

This is the correct way to hook up the device .

This dose 2 things , one , no noise in picture , second , if tuner device has internal problem , it has been bypassed .

Never use the audio out from these cards , they cause noise in picture quality .

Somewhere in that tuner product you have the choice to choose composite input , use it , remmember if you are in a pal country to choose the appropriate pal setting .

These tuner programs have never been a great success , and are complete rubbish , do what I said , choose input as composite , if pal , use correct pal settings .

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

The following are some worthwhile notes to consider

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

If you have the audio from the source fed directly too the linein on the pc sound device (card/on board chip) , double click the sound icon in system tray , do you see linein , yes / no ?

If no click options , properties , select playback , put check on linein , click ok .

Do the same thing for recording , again in options , properties , check linein , click ok .

You should now have linein in volume control panel now .

Uncheck mute box on linein , now playback video from source (not record) , can you hear sound from source now ? , you should now .

If you do have other sound playback issues on the pc , either in windows media player and others , this is a problem with sound playback device itself , the sound chip on motherboard , or addon card .

Try hooking up a portable sound player too linein and see if you can here it (provided linein is not set to mute) .

If no audio is heard , it is a soundchip / addon card problem

Uninstall any software that was provided with the onboard sound chip / addon card , then unistall the drivers for it and reboot .

Reinstall only the drivers required for the device , and retest by using playback of portable player through linein again .

If audio heard , and sounds ok , all you problems are fixed .

If not , you know now the sound device is suspect and needs replacing .

Allowing the audio to be connected to the capture device will show up as interference in the picture source , which should be avoided .
Not sure what you are trying to say.

The Asus V7100 has an audio out connector, which should be connected to the sound card internally. Are you suggesting NOT using it, but instead using the "external" 3,5 mm sound connector?
This gives the exact same problem.

What I experience now is not merely interference, but no audio at all. It is as if the the tuner has tuned to the right picture frequency, but the audio frequency has not been adjusted likewise (it sounds like an old radio pointed somewhere between radion stations).

    Any other suggestions?
