Hello,
TMPGenc 1.2a is the only version that can cut the mpg files I made. (because of some problem). So far I only could find a Japanese version, and knowing the program it's not really hard to find the right buttons, but I'd prefer to find an English version.
Previously there were several sites that had a collection of all or at least several versions. But since the "commercial" 2.0 release Tsunami doesn't want people to provide older versions. And suddenly it seems like all older versions disappeared from the net.
It's easier to find an illegal version of WindowsXP, OfficeXP and Norton2002, then a previously freeware program as TMPGenc 1.2a.
So I hoped someone of you does still have an older backup version of it, or better knows a site that still has them all or this one specifically for download. As said I'm looking for an Enghlish version of the exe.
Thanx
Mars-L

Isn't beta 12 better than 12a? Beta 12 has smallest file size and working 2 pass vbr. It also opens QT files with ease. There is an English translation patch for it. I don't know about cutting mpgs with it but it should work.
12a is often confused with beta 12 for being the ultimate version of tmpgenc (except for speed). -
Hello,
I know but I only have problems with cutting mpg files.
For the rest I simply use 2.02 without problems.
There R 3 sides on every story;
Yours, Mine and the truth -
I did find an even older version; TMPGenc 1.1
It includes and extra TMPGenc Tools tab; "Optimize VBV".
Probably not worth to use, because it disappeared in newer versions.
TMPGenc 1.1 cut&paste, didn't do the job well too. It indeed cuts, but not as it should, because after that the movie, stutters. -

hrm..cuz i'm confused too....cuz i have beta 12a......so it's in 12a or beta 12 or beta 12a? -
Tmpgenc release order:
beta 12 - great, no time limit, in japanese but patcahable
12a - still great, broken vbr
12b - quality degrades?
12c
12d
12e
12f
12g
12h - quality back up
12i - speed improvements?
12j
2.00 - more speed improvements?
2.01
2.02
In it's various incarnations Tmpgenc has taken out functions, decreased encoding quality, increased encoding quality, put back functions, and sped up encoding (by adding SSE instructions).
I think 12a still has equivalent or near equivalent quality as beta 12 but it's 2pass vbr functions were broken.
I forgot which version the quality started degrading. I think it was in version 12b. Quality went back up in 12h. Version i or j sped up the encoding. I think 2.00 is sped up a little more. But for quality, it had been clarified that beta 12 (the first) rules.
