  1. I have about 10 hours of pure audio that I would like to break up into tracks. Does anyone know a free program that would take the mp3 and allow me to break it into tracks? I'm looking for something simple.

CDEX can probably do it, and is timecode-based.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  6. goldwave has a feature called cue points. check the program out cause it's useful for about 100 other audio editing tasks. i hate getting those one-trick wonders on download.com as they clog your registry after a while

I've found an "automatic" mp3 splitter, command line tool (won't clog your registry as it doesn't use it at all!) that can split albums encoded as one MP3 back to tracks.
Tried it, and without specifying any switches, it split my ELO album perfectly.
The bad part is, for the life of me, I can't remember the name, nor where I've got it

CD Wave is a really great program and I also use it, but I think it only works on WAV format files. It is really easy to use.

Take a look at MP3DirectCut. You can get it from http://www.mpesch3.de

Wonderful little FREE program that you can set the cut points or have it scan and make a "best guess" for you.
