Hi guys,
Why is it the subject on the screen flicker when it's moving on PAL TV? When I watch NEWS program everything moves fast (no-flicker). When I watch movies it's the opposite from the NEWS(it flickers).

When I connect my PAL Camcorder directly to the PAL TV, everything is so perfect - subject moves in realtime like watching NEWS!

Problem comes in when I connect the PAL Camcorder in my desktop computer; interlace capturing - VirtualDub w/ Huffyuv codec. It flickers! When I use Field order A in field preview mode on VirtualDub - perfect thing happen(fast or realtime)! But when Field order B - jerky videos expose.

My conclusion:
1. Camcorder sends 50 field/s to the PAL TV which accepts 50 field/s as well ... that's why subjects move in realtime(fast)<--- This is what it should be.

2. Camcorder sends 50 field/s to the Desktop computer which accepts PAL system but it converts into 25 frame/s ... therefore 2 fields have been join together to create 1 frame even if it's not de-interlace at all <--- This is very nasty.

After editing, I output the video into MPEG II interlace - upper field first for PAL TV playback... I've tried lower field first but it's still the same! both PC & TV have the same playback. My PC uses auto de-interlace during playback.

I think it's not a problem at all because I always see this flicker on certain TV shows like GAME SHOWS, DRAMA SERIES and even MOVIES ... The TV station uses professional equipments and therefore this flicker thing is just natural.

But why it doesn't flicker when watching the NEWS or SPORTS or any LIVE COVERAGE? This has to do with CAPTURING? It suppose to be smooth playback on TV since it's encoded in interlace 50 field/s upper or lower field first.

50 field/s on capture then 50 field/s on encode after edit which should playback at 50 field/s, correct? Why flicker? As I said my Camcorder outputs 50 field/s directly to the PAL TV; Neither composite or S-video - things are perfect!

ANY HELP?
