    Hi

    I have just read a post where someone metioned that they have imported a DVD back into Premiere after;

    " to MPEG"

    Can someone explain what 'demuxed' means.

    Does it mean that you can save as compressed MPEG2, save to DVD, and then at a later date undo the compression for editing in PP ?

    Thanks - Stephen

    Multiplexing (or muxing) is when you take let's say mpeg video and combine that with some kind of audio, let's say AC3, creating a mpg file that contains both video and audio.
    Demultiplexing (or demuxing) is the opposite, where you extract the video and audio content to separate files from an mpg or AVI

    There's a link in the menu to your left in the "What Is" section called "Glossary":

    https://www.videohelp.com/glossary?D#Demultiplex
    Demultiplex
    Splitting the video and audio to separate files. Also called "Demux".
    If in doubt, Google it.
