I am capturing a PAL tape to NTSC using a Samsung SV4000W as passthru for the conversion. Capturing to DAC 100.
Which setting do I need the IRE switch on? Capturing with it set to 7.5 IRE (for NTSC) seems to give the final clip a slightly overbright look - in fact more "washed out" than bright - the blacks are a bit light/grey, not solid black.
Perhaps it's at the encoding stage - I am editing in premiere 6 and frameserving to TMPGEnc for the encoding - what setting should the frameserver be to keep the colours as original? RGB24/32 YUV etc?
Any help would be appreciated.
