I'd like to get a Divx/DVD player. My friend told me to wait for the DivX 6.0-certified players. Is he right ?
By the way, I'm thinking of buying the US Logic player from Compusa or picking up an LG next time I'm in Canada.

Do you care about DivX menu's or chapters?
It is possible that current players might be updated, but it doesn't look like it. Maybe those using the newer Sigma chipsets? -
Someone from DivX said on the DivX forum current (Philips) players will almost certain be able to play DivX 6.0. I don't remember wether the menu's and stuff would be able to be read with an update though.

DivX 6.0, the video codec is still just ASP MPEG4 and the container being just a hack/extension of avi should be handled fine by current avi splitters with the new stuff simply being ignored.
I doubt that current philips ESS/MTK players will support menus.
Two reasons:
1) Can the chipsets handle it?
2) Will they sell more newer model players by not updating old ones?
