Is it some masterful feat to capture VHS tapes that are protected (macrovision, or the like) to my Compro PVR card then to DVD? I have tried all settings including an Electrohome V0760 Digital video stabilizer piece of H/W inline with the video feed. Odd thing is, when the tape is either paused or fast-forwarded (reversed also) I CAN see the images on my computer screen and hence, capture it although that does not make for great viewing after.
Unprotected tapes are done the same way, captured to an MPEG 2 or 4 then DivXtoDVD then usually DVD shrink to create a fantastically clear DVD.
I should also note that I can watch the video perfectly clearly through my capture card with or without the video stabilizer inline but as SOON as I hit the <record> button on my screen to capture, it goes completely white with full audio. I have tried Nero, Ulead visual studio and the Compro S/W to no avail.
Can anyone help? I have seen another piece of H/W recommended on this and other sites, the ATV-8710 but am hopeful there is a software solution since I have already tried the H/W route.
Thanks out there....
