  1. hi, was thinking of purchasing a dvd recorder with hard drive and divx playback, any recommendations? was thinking of paying up to £300 or so. i know this price range somewhat restricts, but i have seen the samsung HDHR720 which has the divx logo on the unit for £300 in comet. sadly, there is little info on this unit at the samsung website and reviews annoyingly differ when referring to the specifications of the model ;o(

any suggestions on units on sale in the UK with hdd, multi regional and divx compatibility oh wise ones????

I have a LG model with 80gig with Divx and DVD DL+RW support.
It can play Divx from DVD or HD. Of course, Divx files have to be transfered from DVD to HD first if play from HD.

Couple of things to take note.
    1. Once the power supply is unplugged, the clock setting and schedule recording program are lost.
    2. No forward or backward for Divx playback.
    3. Schedule recording will not start if recorder is playing from DVD or HD.
    4. DVD+/-RW media once used in PC cannot be used for dubbing i.e. transfering of video from HD to DVD. Dubbing with this recorder needs a "virgin" DVD+/-RW.
