Okay, despite not getting any help on my last post, I figured out how what was wrong with my VCD burns and I am now able to do it. I just needed to use CDRW instead of CDR. This made it all work correctly.

So I still tried a new disc with one short video and a menu to test how the menu worked and see if the movie played on my dad's DVD player. I put the disc in and it pushed play. The player started playing track one, but it was the video, not the menu. Does the menu appear as track 1 on the player? Anyway, the point is the menu didn't appear at all. I tried using a computer software VCD player, and got the same result.

What am I doing wrong? There don't seem to be many places to screw up the creation of a simple menu in Nero, but something isn't working! What?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Thanks for the reply. I checked out the whole Marty Guide and was really excited, but I can't find the exact programs that he mentions. I got a later version of TSCV than he mentioned but I figured that was okay. However, I could not for the life of me find the same version of VCDImager GUI that he says. the one on this site is older, and following links on ttools.com's TSCV page, I can't figure out what the hell to download. HELP!

I just need a simple link to the program I need.

  4. Here a link for VCDImager

I think you don't need to use the same version that Marty mention, but find the newest one incase of bug fix. Also some of TSCV download (newer version) already include VCDImager in his package.
And just in case you don't know what version or file to look for. This is a link for ver 0.7.11

Thanks a lot everyone! I'll try to make a disc tonight. You were right, I had downloaded TSCV v0.82 which has VCDimager in it.

So what do you recommend to burn the resulting image?? I really like Nero, but if it's not going to do well I'll use something else. I would use CDRWin, but the stupid little program can't recognize EITHER of my drives.

  6. I use CDRWIN all the time and never have any problems. Tried NERO once but got only unusable cd.

  8. If you d/loaded the newest ver of TSCV it should have CDRDAO bundled with it. CDRWIN cost money (or only burns at 1x, cracking CDRWIN is known to burn coasters). CDRDAO is freeware, but is a DOS/command line program so you'll want to use TSCV, or VCDeasy as a gui for it.

Everything can be found at http://www.doom9.org

There's another gui for CDRDAO (not x(S)VCD specific) called XDuplicator, do a google search for it if you like.

  9. If you use CDRDAO, I strongly suggest that you get XDuplicator. It seems to work when TSCV and VCD Easy sometimes don't (as a front-end of CDRDAO).

XDuplicator will essentially give you similar functionality as CDRWin.

    Regards.
