I have been beating my head against the wall for 2 weeks now. I take my DiVX AVIs and convert them to the DVD ffmpegx option without creating the VIDEO_TS folder structure as I want to pull them in Toast so I can at least get some chapters in them.
I convert just fine in ffmpegx. It creates the .mpg, .mpv, and .ac3 files just fine. They import into Toast 6.1.1 just fine. It finds the .ac3 surround sound file just fine ( I have Toast with Jam).
When I go to create the disc, Toast RE-ENCODES the entire video files and then burns the disc. The resulting image is TERRIBLE.
I know I read in the ffmpegx docs that when it creates the mpg2 it should work just fine in Toast and Toast should not re-encode the files. Why is this happening and is there a fix for it? I have the latest updates for both Toast and Jam and am using the 0.0.9s version of ffmpegx.
Thanks!

This is just a shot in the dark, but Toast only supports framerates of NTSC (29.97) and Pal (25). If you are encoding to NTSC film (23.97) then you need to add 3:2 pulldown for Toast to accept them. If this is the case, change your .mpv extension to .m2v and use the pulldown button in the tools tab of FFMPEGX.
Cheers,
Alph
