  1. I have a Pioneer DVR-108 w/ Firmware version 1.20

I'm trying to burn on Verbatim DVD-R Dual Layer 8.5GB, 4X (95165) from Rima.

Something isn't going right. None of my software seems to recongize these as valid disks.

I tried burning a DVD Decriptor 3.5.4.0 ISO, and it says Device Not Ready: Incompatible Medium Installed.

I also tried with Nero Express 6.3.1.25, and it doesn't seem to recognize it either. I tried running Nero's "Disk Info" and it just comes up with No disk inserted or drive not ready. Please try again.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

    Thanks.

108 only does +r dual layer only. Not -r dual layer.

See if Rima will exchange them? How many did you buy?

  5. No biggie. I only bought one 3-pack, and I opened and pre-labeled one disk. I'll get rid of them.

Are these Verbatim DVD+R Double Layer 8.5GB, 2.4X (95014) a good way to go?

I really like buying from Rima, but their Dual Layer selection is limited. I'd rather buy elsewhere to ensure no coasters, if that's what it takes.

I haven't used Dual Layer yet so I don't know. Sorry.

  7. Rima is a great place to buy. Even if you've labeled a disc, contact them. They might be able to do something for you. Great people.
I get what you're saying about their selection though. Watch out for B&M specials... alot of them beat the crap out of online prices lately. Office Depot had Verb +RDL 3pks for 19.99 BOGO ($3.33 per disc plus tax) a few weeks ago, as an example. Flash your 108 to a Piodata 108 and enjoy auto +R bitsetting to DVD-ROM. Your discs will have a much better shot of playing in a standalone than -RDL.

    Good luck,
    -Evan-
