  1. I have done a cursory search of the forum and not found any info. I can burn DVD+R discs and play them on my Mac. I have a player hooked to the TV. It is supposed to play all the various media. But it won't play the +R disks that work fine in the computer. Now this isn't a problem since I can just use -R discs. But I'm considering getting a new dual layer Lacie burner. But the dual layer format is +R. Do any of you have ideas as to why the +R discs won't play on my player? I guess that would be a problem for the dual layer +Rs as well?

    There is a 4 bit field (book type)at the beginning of every DVD that defines how a player should process the disk. Set top players made before mid 2004 don't process the +R. There are alternatives.
    1. Use -R DVD's.
    2. Use +R DVD's in a burner that allows bitsetting. A +R DVD written with a DVD-ROM bit code will fool an older player into playing the disk.
    3. Buy a newer set top DVD player that processes +R DVD's.
