I've never bought anything on eBay myself, but as far as what can be done, I'd think selling unauthorized copies of copyrighted material (across state lines most likely) is at the very least a violation of some state if not federal laws. Depending on how much of a fuss you want to put up and how far you want to push it, I'm sure you could do SOMETHING. BTW, what's the television equivalent of the MPAA / RIAA?
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

The MPAA and possibly ASCAP would license.

Ebay is a business like any other.
They are essentially out to make money.
It differs from most other businesses in that it has a VERY distinct monopoly AND is accesib,le worldwide at the click of a mouse.

Ebay is really not in the slightest bothered by one or two (be it 10's 100's or 1000's) rip off merchants.
It makes money off anyone who sells, whatever they sell.

But, if you are sensible and look before you leap, check out the item and its descrip and the seller and theri feedback etc etc you really shouldnt have too much problem.

Be realistic 120 episodes on 7 discs for $25 No Chance, and screaming copy at me before i even get to the fact that such a set hasnt been officially released or that 'The picture and sound are 8 out of 10 if not higher.'

I have bought and sold on eBay. I no longer sell, the market is so biased, sometimes towards the seller, and sometimes towards the buyer. But ALWAYS towards eBay themselves, that i dont bother selling there anymore.

I will not buy anything like CD's DVD's or other such that can be copied (unless i am willing to accept a copy) or things like high end electronics (PC, laptops etc) Too many fraudsters.

Be sensible and enjoy the cheap marketplace

Wow! Man I can't believe you would never use eBay for anything. You are either really rich or you don't understand how much money you could be saving. I am only 17, so I don't have a lot of money to spare but I have saved probably a couple thousand dollars on ebay. I bought my entire home theater system off ebay along with all my video game systems, games, dvds, cds, computer parts and my flatscreen computer monitor. I also bought my snowboard and everything to go along with that. Dude, I even buy clothes on ebay. People say they get ripped off by eBay, and let me tell you the first time I get ripped off I probably won't ever shop their again, but it hasn't happened yet. I don't know, but maybe I'm just good at picking out auctions to bid on.

When you get to my age you get more skeptable,I have been ripped off before and now I only buy new stuff from retailers that have a return policy.
If you have had good luck with eBay then more power to you.

    That's seriously GREAT advice.

EBay happily takes their cut/percentage of the sale, but you have ZERO privacy rights and they won't do squat if you get swindled cuz they're just a "middleman."

    User beware.

You do need to use a bit of judgement, but if you study the feedback of a potiential item's seller and avoid the ones with excessive negative feedback, or the ones who betray a poor attitude (e.g. what feedback they leave for others), then you should be okay. However, if you are looking for say, deleted VHS tapes (not available on DVD), is it really worth the sellers while, trying to rip someone off for £2 by not sending the item?
