I've made several short clips for the internet using Windows .wmv which seems to work ok. However, I just edited and uploaded another which always throws the error: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because a network error occured." or "The server redirected the player to an invalid location."

I've made this video like all the rest...with WMM...and I'm starting to notice other videos are not dl/ing, too.

    Any tips?

    The 1.9mb file is here:

    Thanks for any insights.

  2. Strange, first try it played for a while and then gave that error, second try it played 46 Seconds to the end as reported by Windows Media Player. I'm guessing something at the website?

It did put me In the Mood for some Glenn Miller however. It played locally OK too. That rubber glove clip reminded me of a man on an old, old game show I saw on GSN who blew out a inner tube by blowing down the valve stem.

    Good Luck

You know, some other wmv's at http://buskercentral.com/video.php are throwing the same error. I haven't touched these videos...rather just threw them on as-is.
They play fine on my box...

So far, all attempts below have failed:

    Turning off firewall
Streaming (enabled mime types .wvx & .wmv on server)
Right click and save target as

Running out of ideas here, guys...
    I'm using bitrates of around 360 I think...Could this be a problem?

What I don't understand is why I can dl a .wmv video at 340kbps from another site fine...but when I upload it to my site, I can't dl it without getting a network error and it closing on me.

I thought I'd get some insights here but I guess it's time for the experts-exchange.

  6. Have you talked to your hosting company?

It has to be something at your site. I say that since I did see that error first try. I do not thinkj it is at your computers end.

    Good Luck

Host says everythings fine on their end...
    MP seems fine...
That's one thing I never liked about computers.

Only thing left is to reinstall mp10...but this problem only happens with my site.

This reminds me of the time I went into the living room to watch a movie. When I returned, my box had dropped a critical file by itself and wouldn't allow me on the internet.

    So much for reliability.
