  1. I have converted a VOB file to AVI with VirtualDub Mod. I want to import the resulting file into Premiere Pro. But the process just stalls and nothing happens...

What sort of avi ? the AVI format is a container format for video and/or audio data formatted in any number of ways. The format is determined by the codec (e.g. DV, Divx, Xvid, Uncompressed etc). Some codecs are more compatible that others in different programs.

What codec did you use for your AVI ?

Premiere is pretty picky about Divx. I believe there is one version it accepts, the rest it chokes on. I'm surprised it didn't take uncompressed, but them premiere crashing doesn't mean anything other than premiere is crash-prone and unstable.

  8. Dunno why, but I tried all the codecs, including the ones you mentionned... it doesnt work. I just noticed, that the resulting AVI doesnt playback right (jerking + loses sound after 1-2 secs)
