  1. When I play a DVD using my panasonic DMR-E95H it overlaps every channel on my tv, so the DVD is the only thing I can watch. My problem is, that it does the same thing when recording from VHS and when copying from HDD to DVD.

It also does the same thing when I play a VHS since I have coupled it to my DVD player.

Is there a way I can solve this, so I can just watch some TV when copying?

    Thanks in advance!

Don't connect everything in a chain through the DVD recorder. Use a splitter to feed RF to the TV. Use S-Video or composite from DVD recorder to TV.

  3. Thanks,

I do have a splitter for my cable, one of them is in the DVD recorder, the other one is in the TV. Besides that, all I have is a scart cable in between them.

I don't know how else it could be done?

Having mentioned scart it now becomes clear that you are in the UK or Europe at least. SCART uses pin 8 to automatically switch your TV to the scart input. The theory being that if you are watching TV and you decide to watch a DVD, the DVD player (or recorder in your case) puts a signal on pin 8 and switches the TV to the scart input. It saves you from having to select AV or whatever.

Once it has done this, you should be able to switch your TV between AV or TV from your remote. I have come across a TV that wouldn't let you switch back to TV as the signal was still on pin 8. The cure to that was to use a scart lead that wasn't fully wired (a cheap one that only connects the signal paths and not the switching).
