  1. I have always been a big fan of VSO DivxToDVD, so much so that I boght their full version.

But I have now got a few mpegs, that look fine when played, but when converted, sit in the middle of a massive black border. Forcing WEidescreen just makes the borders are the sides bigger, not the actual picture!

What Mpeg -> DVD Converter will do 'Stretch to fit' type??

    Any other suggestions appreciated!

Pretty much any encoder can do what you are after. Tmpgenc has stretch settings that work well. I use CCE, and avisynth to resize and filter. I have never seen DivxtoDVD exhibit this problem before though.

  3. I'll give tmpgenc a go, but CCE and AViSynth dont work with mpeg format as far as I can see.

I have never been able to use tmpgenc properly, but I might as well give it another go!

Avisynth can load pretty much anything, you just need the right libraries. CCE gets uncompressed video data from avisynth, so it doesn't care what you feed into avisynth in the first place. That said, CCE can also take mpeg natively.

    To Hongman,

Have you tried contacting VSO software directly? I am sure they would be interested in the information,

By filling out their support form you log will automatically be sent into them and perhaps they will have a solution for you, or perhaps you will make them aware of a problem they have not run into themselves.

    try contacting via: http://www.vso-software.fr/supportform.php?lang=en
(make sure to download the support tool)
