  2. Kinda a vague question. Ripping, editing, or burning?

To reencode the files, you will want to "demultiplex" the .VOBS..Meaning separate the video (m2v/mpg/whatever) and audio (ac3/mpa/mp2/whatever).
But, I'm not sure that you even need to re-encode your stuff..You say tall and skinny, ie: a widescreen (16:9/etc) source shown in standard 4:3 (like broadcast tv). It sounds like you could just edit the .IFO files..Just do a search in the forum/guides on vobedit/ifoedit..Not easy to use programs for the noob, but guides someone should be able to point you in the right direction with one of them...And as a friendly reminder if you try this - BACKUP your .IFO/.BUP files before you edit them.

  9. You can easily change the AR flag of MPEG2 files with ReStream.

  10. couldnt you just change the ratio in the ifo files? This would be 1000 times quicker and a possible quick solution to your problem. Just use ifoedit and change the ratio to 16x9 instead of 4:3 which it may be set to now

  11. Correct the WS-flag using IFOEdit: Open relevant IFO file (VTS_xx_0.IFO, xx=title number), click on VTSI_MAT, scroll down, double-click on line 200 (hex) and change aspect ratio, OK, then save the file. You can find the "open" and "save" buttoms on the left bottom side of the IFOEdit screen.
