How ya'll doing? I tried something new and trying to make it work. I used Sefy's template to encode with TMPGEnc. but didn't work. So I made my own. Almost the same as his but the playback on computer and dvd player is not jerky or speed-up. Anyway, I use MPEG2 combine with VCD setting then using Nero to burn it as a vcd. The quality is no difference with DVD however, the only problem is the screen is small than usual and went to the upper left have corner of the screen. Is this the result from using MPEG2 and burning under vcd format. I tried using SVCD and it works but my player can only automatically "resume" when playing vcd but not SVCD. Is there a way to go around this? Any suggestion is appreciation. Jordan

When Burning MPEG2 as VCD (I tried, I know) it's extremly rare that the DVD player will even read it, in most cases it doesn't
I don't know why my Template didn't work for you, but if you like, you can email me, and i'll send you an updated Template and see if that one works better for you.

Sefy,
I have emailed you regarding template you sent me, to your nettaxi.com account and some other questions too. Thanks, Jordan -
Sefy,
In your guide, you mentioned something call "JON60" which uses MPEG-2 compression. I'd like to know how is the template burn. Does it uses SVCD format or VCD format. If VCD format, can you let me know where I can get this template? It wasn't in the zip you email me and same for the one in the "tools" section. Thanks, Jordan -
thenewboy, I got your email, and will reply to it shortly, as for your question here, the JON60 is a XSVCD Template, not VCD, I think it should be in the Tools section, that's where I got it from myself.

Sefy,
Hi, I don't know if you had reply my email yet or not. However, just wanted you to know that I haven't receive anything from you yet. Therefore, if you did reply, could you please re-send it again. All I wanted to know is it possible to burn MPEG-2 compression file into VCD format (not SVCD). If possible, can you please show me how? Thanks in advance for your attention. Jordan -
Strange that you didn't get my email, well, as for your answer, it is NOT possible to burn a VCD encoded as MPEG2, well, it is possible to burn, but I highly doubt it will work, actually, my own Pioneer 525 which reads just about anything couldn't do it!
So just imagine what the success rate of less compatible DVDs!

Sefy,
Thanks for your prompt reply. I have a Pioneer DV-434 and I don't know if it will play everything. However, like I mention before, I did try burning a mpeg-2 compression file in VCD format and my player is able to recognize the disc and was able to play. However, the screen was shifted to the upper left hand corner of my TV. So, I would like to give it a try. Can you please show me how to burn mpeg-2 into VCD format? Thanks in advance. Jordan -
Burn like you would regularaly burn, if you use Nero, burn as Video-CD, and just turn off the Compliancy Check.

Sefy,
Yes, I did what you'd mention, even before I post my question. However, the outcome is that the playback shifted to the upper left hand corner of my TV screen. You think my problem can be resolve? Or am I out of luck. ThanksJordan

I've helped a guy today fix that same problem, it's just something in the settings of the Template, if you can catch me on ICQ, i'll go over the Template with you, and we will figure what is wrong, or I could just send you my Template and you try for yourself

thenewboy,
I think I know what you did - done it myself, and experienced the SAME
thing you're going through (I think)
In short, YOU CHANGE THE RESOLUTION to something else. Yes, sometimes
it looks better on your TV that way, but the end result is an incorrect resolution
setting - sorry! When your aim is for dvd player/TV view, you have to stick
with the (for NTSC) - :
* 352x240
* 352x480
* 480x480
* 704x480
* 720x480
...for PAL, change 240/480 to 288/576
very few players will play 640x480 (my Apex AD-500 and AD-1500 do not play
640x480 encodes)
I've tried, ie, 352x384 and others, will play nice on my TV w/ good dvd like quality
but only in a small window to your TV's left. Sorry, dude, but there's no fixing
this!!
That's your problem. You must change your res. back to the standards layed
out above.
Later. -
Can you send me the templates that all you guys were talking about at eliraz_bob@yahoo.com, I am new to all of this and would like to know how to get the best quality.
Thanks a lot for your time. -
Actually no, I didn't change any resolution, we played around with the Interlace/Non-Interlace and there was another thing, I think it was the aspect ratio.
Also, it is VERY important to remember to load the Template AFTER you open the D2V (or your source file) and before you start the encoding, alot of problems happen if you don't do it that way.
Which of the Templates would you like ? just email me

Sefy,
Thanks for your reply. You're right, its an encoding problem. I played around with the settings and finally got the problem resolve. Although it still needs a little adjustment but I now can see the full screenAnd I am burn MPEG-2 compression as VCD. Thanks for all your help Sefy and to all out there.
As for smokingweed3000's request, you could download Sefy's Template and use TMPGEnc to encode your files. But for the best quality, its up to you to draw the line. Good Luck and Thanks again. Jordan
PS. I will have a new post after this reply. Wish all of you can help answer my question again
