I'm looking to get some sort of PVR (like TiVO or Replay TV) that will allow me to record & pause live TV, but was wondering if any of them also allow you to dump stuff off to their hard drive from an external source and then edit it. I had a Panansonic DVR that allowed me to do this. I want to dump some home video footage off and then edit out the stuff I don't want, but the Panasonic DVR didn't really allow me to pause live TV like TiVO. Is there such a PVR available with these editing features? If so, which ones?

Hard drive DVD recorders should do what you want and you can edit the video in the machine itself and then burn it to DVD.
Panasonic, Pioneer, Ilo, Lite-On and others make such machines.
