  1. Hi guys,

I recently bought an RJ-1500 DVD player and it's been working out great ...

My one quip is that when playing various divx formatted files (or basically any files other than SVCD, for some reason) there is a timer that appears on the top-right hand of the screen (sometimes it appears on the left-hand side). The timer keeps track of how far (in hours:minuteseconds) along the video is.

My question is how do I get rid of the timer?

I've combed through the menu items but didn't see an applicable option. I've also Googled (to no avail) and flipped through the skimpy manual for the player (which is written in horrid english, and was no help at all either).

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks a lot,
    Mikey

  2. Well, after a lot more trial and error with just hitting buttons on the remote, I found that the 'OSD' button does the trick. The default setting appears to be the elapsed time, though you can also display the chapter remain time.

Anyway, according to the manual the OSD button is responsible for:
    16. OSD (opening screen display)
Press this button the movie will go back to the beginning (For VCD disc) or it will show the select title. Depends on the disc.
Time to nominate the RJ-1500 manual for Technical Standards' Worst Manual contest

  3. Typically most players of this type have a Display or OSD button on the remote that cycles the on-screen display on through various displays and eventually back to off when pressed enough times.

Other remote keys that toggle different settings when pressed multiple times include (on the RJ-1500DVXII but not limited to just this particular player): Audio, Vocal, Zoom, Slow, Angle, Subtitle, V-Mode, P/N (PAL/NTSC), etc.
