  1. I have been outputting the timeline from Vegas 5 to a JVC DR-M10S to create DVDs.
The JVC has decided to quit on me and was wondering if anyone knows if there are other DVD recorders that will work with Vegas

    Thanks

    Fix the JVC. What happened?
Or get the JVC DR-M100S (new model, same quality, better build)

Any one with firewire, by the way, does NOT work. There are a great number of them with firewire than cannot accept output from a computer, not sure why.

ok -- should say 'any one with firewire that takes output from computer or DV Cam'

w/ vegas - in options, you turn off transport control and freewheel it .. wit the audio cue beeps and programed countdown you can get with in 3 frames..

To export the time line make sure you use "print to video" within the editing app. You won't get device control but you can cue up the unit and press record. It's manual but it works this way. Not sure with Vegas but with Primere has this function and i never have any problems.

  6. Thanks so much for the input. I really like the results I got from the JVC DR-M10S. I decided on getting as a result of the info Lordsmurf provided here and it worked great until...

I've got the "my computer" folder open

I connect my sony vx2000 via firewire the camera shows right up as a device. I then disconect the vx2000 and connect a sony digital 8 camera to the same cable but it dosen't show up
I then connect my JVC DVD recorder up to the same cable dosen't show up. Both devices are turned on.
Reconnect the VX 2000 to the same cable and it shows right up.

I get the exactly the same results on 3 different computers.

Yesterday all 3 devices would show up. I can't figure out what happened.
I can connect my removable firewire drives to the same port and they show up no problem. I keep trying to connect the Digital 8 camera and the JVC recorder thinking it's a bad dream or something I'm totally baffeled

So thats what happened It looks like the JVC DR-M100S is about 50.00 more then the M10S. Do you guys think it's woth the difference.

Of course I'd prefer to figure out the FW issue cause it works fine other then this really freaky deal

Trying to use TWO video devices on the SAME CARD at the SAME TIME? That may not be allowable.

  8. Thanks for the response.
The video devices are connected to the same FW cable one at a time.
I realize that it dosen't make any sense

Is it possible that somehow the FW out got disabeled inside the devices?
