hi there. I have a few questions. I have successfully made a dvd with menus recently, but want to make another dvd with subtitles as my wife likes them as she watches the movie. My first question is HOW can i tell if an avi file i have has PERMENANT subtitles in it or soft-coded (i believe the term is)?????
Second, I have an avi file using winavi i convert to dvd files. Is there a way or program i can use to extract those subtitles out of the avi file???
and lastly, i am REALLY NEW to this dvd stuff and files so is there a step-by-step guide to doing this????
thanks again for all help
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

you can extract permanent subtitles with latest subrip beta.
if you can disable the subs it is not permanent subtitles. you can also try open the avi with virtualdubmod or avimuxgui to see if you find any subtitle streams. in virtualdubmod under stream->stream list.
i haven't seen any guides.
and please post subtitle in our subtitle forum. moving you.
