Real basic question, if anyone can help me out with this it would be great: how do I download TMPGEnc without having a zip drive, and what exactly is a zip drive?.... Is there a way to download TMPGEnc without it?.... Thanks!

Not sure what you mean...
( Right click links and select "Save As" )
Direct link: http://www.tmpgenc.com/files/TMPGEnc-2.02.31.119.zip
Link to VFAPI: http://www.tmpgenc.com/files/TMPGEnc-2.01.30.116-vfp.zip
Just download them to your HD and unzip...
A zip-drive is like a diskett-drive with disketts that have the capacity of 100MBs or more...

Zip is a compression format. Basically you take a whole bunge of files (and dirs) and compress them into one file. This makes it easier to send/recieve it over the net.
Dload winzip (http://www.winzip.com or http://www.download.com) install winzip and you'll be able to uncompress the zip archive.
Aside - another popular compression program/type is rar. -
Use Winace as it will open .ace .rar and .zip extensions no need for multiple programes.this does them all
