  1. if i just burn file on a dvd/cd, and not fix/organize them in any way, just burn them, what file types would a dvd player recognize?

like if i burn jpegs on a cd, most dvd players could read them.

what i mean by not fixing/organizing this files in any way is unlike a dvd, where files are either in the video_ts or audio_ts folder, these file will be in no folder.

    Hi,

Well if its vob it has to be in the video_ts folder to be read.

BUT some will read mpg only files. There are divx/xvid players that will play the avi files. And some play jpgs and mp3s/wmas.

You would put them in the root drive or in a sub folder. They should read them just fine.

Just read the specs of the dvd player you plan on using. And also some have requirements for the files. If your doing audio it may not work on rates higher than 192 or jpg files may not read at a high resolution. It all depends on the player.

  3. Many DVD players - but not all - will play MPG files on a CD, but not on a DVD.

Other than that, and jpg as you already have found - again on some, but not all - and outside of specialized MPG4 players, that is about it.

If you want to play universally, then the correct answer is NONE.
