  2. Look to the left side of this site with different topics. Go to: How to>>Author. Yes, it tells you everything there.

  3. i've tried everything said on this site. it still won't let me convert the mpeg-1 file into an mpeg1 vcd file. or are all mpeg-1 files vcd compliant?

If your looking for a vcd extension there is no such thing, the extension will still be mpg only it will be a vcd compliant MPG file.

  5. No, not all MPEG 1's are VCD compliant. When you say TMPGEnc doesnt work, what do you mean? Did you try using File-> MPEG Tools. Go to the Merge & Cut tab and add your .mpg. Normally you would right click and edit it but if you simply leave the entire file entact and save it using that tabs pull down menu MPEG-1 Video CD setting you should be all set

  6. Try burning it to a c.d. through Nero and see what it says...

  7. i tried smokin's tmpegenc solution but it outputs a file that just stops as soon as it starts.

  8. uhmm.. VCD is an mpeg 1 at 1150 kb/sec 352x240 (talking ntsc) at either 23.976 fps or 29.97 fps
    audio - 224 kb/sec mpeg-1 layer 2

anything else isnt to vcd spec.. it also must be streamed the right way. basically if you have an mpeg1 at the above specs and nero rejects it it probably isnt streamed right. just have to demultiplex and multiplex to mpeg -1 vcd . tmpgenc does that quite nicely in one step

  10. what doyou mean doesn't work? what message are you getting, what is it doing? need more info.

  11. if your mpeg-1 is at vcd specs but just not streamed right.. you goto tmpgenc - file - mpeg tools multiplex (not the basic one) load the mpeg then type in the new output file name you want . make sure type is set to mpeg-1 videoCD and hit start... takes about 10 seconds or so (depending on cpu speed) and voila.. shove it in nero and burn baby burn.. if nero doesnt take it at this point then recheck the specs.

  12. nikmagid, you said "i tried smokin's tmpegenc solution but it outputs a file that just stops as soon as it starts."

What I beleive is your mpeg file is may be mpeg-2. Can you double check whether the file is mpeg-1 or mpeg-2

  15. if ti goes up to video cd, does that means it is a vcd already? what are the other lines on the program? what about if it goes above video cd or below?

  16. Can you open your mpeg file using windows media player? Are you able to see the video?

  17. then ones i made using tmpenc i cannot see the video. the ones i download open up in media player fine with no problems. is there a difference between .mpg and .mpeg files? i have both.

  18. This means what you made with tmpenc is mpeg-2 file (you might have choosed SVCD template).
    the original is mpeg-1.

Open a nero. try to burn original mpeg-1 file. If it accepts good. If not re-encode you mpeg-1 then burn.

    Good Luck
