  1. On my Sylvania VHS/DVD recorder I made a dvd from a vhs tape. The machine uses dvd-r/rw blanks. I tried reading the dvd in my Compaq Presario desktop (it's supposed to read dvd+ or -) but I cannot read the dvd. Suggestions please.

  2. Did you "finalize" the disk?

If you DID finalize the disc and it still did not work, it just may be that THAT particular brand and type is not compatible with your PC. For example, using my dvd recorder with Fuji -RW works fine when I transfer to the PC. However, my PC will NOT read perfectly good -RW TDK discs that the dvd recorder sees perfectly for whatever reason. So... You may just need to experiment.

  4. Slacker you are a genius! At least to a newbie like me. The dvd had NOT been finalized. So I finalized it and had no problem viewing it on my computer. Thanks so much for taking the time to reply to my cry for help, and thank you VideoHelp for your great efforts.
