  1. I have been collecting dvds for quite a while now, and have nearly 300... anybody who has this many movies knows how difficult it is to find the one you are looking for. I am looking for a software that will organize and allow me to play dvd ISOs directly from the computer. i would eventually like to have all my dvds backed up onto a pc hooked into my home theater, so i can just select the movie and play.

Thus far the only software i have been able to find is "Media Portal" which is xbox media center ported to the pc, it is still in beta though and is quite glitchy, it works great on organizeing them though. it will download the information from imdb and write all your database info as well as show the dvd cover while searching. it is almost exactly what i am looking for, but i do not need all the extra features, like my pictures or my music. also i would like something that is not so glitchy.

    Anybody have any suggestions?

With a 160gb HD you'd get around 25 to 35 uncompessed DVD's on your HD......what you going to do about the other 270ish DVD's?..you'll need around 10X your current HD capacity....even compressing to divx/xvid avis' your still only looking at squeezing around 100 to 140 vids on your pc....wouldnt it be simpler just to put your DVD's in some order..either abc..or by genre?.....and much, much quicker......ripping 300 DVD's (or encoding to avi)...you must be crazy....or maybe you need to get a life

  3. I beleive he has a life..... I also want to do the same thing. I am looking for something to convert all to iso.
The Modix plays movies nicely & being able to change H/D's, there's LOTS of room to archive.

  4. Im looking for the same thing. I have Philips SL400i which does a good job streaming Divx mpeg1 mpeg2 VOB to my DLP HDTV and it also streams mp'3s....But i want something the organizes files just as well as Philips SL400i but allows ISO's to be streamed over a lan line to my HDTV.
