After making a lot of attempts to rip a DVD using tools like DVDDecrypter, Smart Ripper, Rejig, TMPGEnc DVD Author, etc..., I came to know from the error messages that the DVD has certain corrupt cells, and so it cannot be read. Every software I used stopped ripping process after about 25% is done, and then error messages started flashing, saying that there is a read error.

Although I lost hope, I gave a final trial using the Isobuster software. I started extracting the tracks using this. After some time, even this software gave out a message saying that there are certain errors. Fortunately, it gave me a choice to ignore these. So, I made the choice of ignoring the errors, and continued copying the required VOB files. This is how I extracted the VOBs and corresponding IFO file belonging to a particular Title on a DVD :

Now, that have the ripped VOBs and the IFO file, I want to join the two VOBs to make a bigger VOB file and then convet the VOB into MPEG2 file. Pls tell me how do I do these.

OK..first off you need to understand that vobs are created by an AUTHORING prog, and are limited to a max of 1gig (1024meg) of data..plus, of course, the video and audio files are not mpegs (as such) but seperate files (eg m2v for video and either AC3, DTS, PCM(wav) or MP2 for audio or a mixture held within a single vob)...therefore I dont think you can just 'join' vobs....I could be wrong though.

What you will need to do is extract the M2V (video) and your selected audio track from the vobs...TMPG can do this with MPEG TOOLS (from>FILE) for mp2 and pcm/wav, wether it can extract AC3 or DTS from a DVD vob I dont know....DVD2AVI WILL demux AC3 audio from a vob.......if you want a pure MPEG (mpeg2 video and MP2 Audio) file then you may need to convert any AC3 audio first....anyway TMPG MPEG TOOLS will aslo join your video/mpeg audio files into one mpeg.

A vob is basically an mpeg2 in dvd format. depending on what you want to do you can simply change the file extension from vob to mpg. alot of software programs will accept the new mpg extension.
