What type of file is a mp42 and how can I convert it to play on a SCVD? Whenever I try to open it to TMPGEnc, it says "cannot open, file not supported". What can I do to fix this? Thanks

You need the MS Media Player v 6.4 fix. In the player by default the M$ code is wrong for Mpeg layer 4 avi files. The old Mpeg4 codec (not DivX, but another) can not play in the media player in it's original config, hence TMPG can't open the file as the necessary codecs aren't there.
Did a quick search and found them. Page link:

Win 9x http://www.xxxmoviemart.com/faq/extfaq/codecs/mpeg4x.zip
Win NT Win2k

It's from an adult site's FAQ's. Sorry, all the search found. Hope this helps....
