I've got a P4 Northwood CPU in mind that has a 533 FSB, which should limit the RAM speed to PC2700 if I'm not mistaken. I already have a stick of PC3200 on hand I was going to put in it. The RAM I have should underclock without any problems shouldn't it?

Most newer DDR MB's spec the memory at PC3200 which is 400Mhz, but they will work fine with a slower speed.
You might want to check the MB manual, though. A few MB's don't like mixed memory either in size or speed. Try it though, it can't hurt anything. You can always run a program like SiSandra to check the performance. -
Hell I may end up going with a Athlon 64 Venice and forget it. Have plenty of FSB there.
