  1. I have a problem with my very first project. I have been capturing several hours of springboard diving playing with different settings.

I started a test project to see if I had understood the method to create a dvd. I added about 7 minutes to a project, then made a test movie on a read/write DVD. I then played with creating menus, and chapters, and added a little bit more video. The problem I have encountered is trying to insert additional clips ( ie have one from one summer meet, and want to add 3 or 4 move clips following in the proper sequence.

I have built menus for each year, with submenus for each time of dive meet, with chapters that will reflect the actual meets.

I cannot seem to add new clips without seeing other clips squished down so tiny that they don't show on the timeline and don't show when I preview.

I have searched the web, this site and the manual.

I need to get this project completed, as I am creating recruitng tapes/DVD's for various college dive coaches..Am I missing something? or can I not do what I am trying to do.

    Thanks!

ps...I had a Dazzle DVC USB..couldn;t get it to work, but read lots on this sight about all the different capture devices, and ended up with the Pinnacle...all in all, except for the freeze-ups, it seems to do what I need. However, if the product cannot do what I need, and another one can, can you let me know? I just bought this over the weekend, and can return it to BestBuy withing the 2 week timeframe.

  2. Hi

I have used PS a lot and found it great for editing but useless for authoring projects particularly those that you gradually build up by adding more clips, menus and chapters etc basically exactly as you describe - well known as buggy software I'm afraid.

One thing you can try is to open your existing stu file, delete the aux files (File/Delete Auxiliary Files) then save as some other filename. Reopen and then try to insert new clips etc - I found this worked for me in the past.

IMHO I would look at some other software to author such as DVDlab (great software) using PS to edit and export only - since I made this change it has been perfect results every time.

    Hope this helps

Build up the timeline first - then add the chapters and menus
