  1. I've done tons of stuff with AVI editing with VirtualDub which works nicely for commerical editing to me.

But now I have a problem. I have some huge MPEG2 files recording with my WinTV PVR USB2 TV Tuner Card, which range for like 1GB to 30GB. 30GB not because of quality but because I was recording a TV marathon which was 48 hours.

How can I edit the MPEG files by taking out the commercals so I don't have to open them with VirtualDub-MPEG2, waiting like 2 hours for it to actually finish reading it an opening it, then saving it as an AVI, then coverting back to MPEG using TMPGEnc or something else, or maybe just leaving it an AVI using DiVX/XViD in my Panasonic DVP642 DVD Player.

    Hi,

Well tmpgenc does have a mpeg cutting tool in FILE-MPEG TOOLS-MERGE+CUT. Just make sure you select mpeg2 program as the output type and not svcd.

  3. Yes, but even with that, it would take like 2 days just to edit out the commericals and that is if I even get everything done correctly.

  4. Hi there. I would suggest checkin out VideoRedo. I have been using this piece of software quite actively for the past few months primarily for editing out commercials. It is quite fast, accurate, and powerful. Furthermore, the new BETA version has a feature (ad Detective) that automatically scans the MPEG files for commercials which is a nice touch, even though some manual work is required. Although it is not freeware, it is definitely well worth it.

  6. Comskip and Comclean may be worth looking at.
    Both command line programs, free.
Look in the forums at www.gbpvr.com
You do not need gbpvr to use these, they'll work on any mpg.
