  1. I just got my first dvd burner, a NEC 3540. I am using dvd decrypter & dual layer media and I want to make backups of some of my dvd's. I dont want to edit them, remove anything, and no compression, I just want to make a 1 to 1 copy. Can someone point me to a tutorial to do this.
Also is it possible since i and making a copy to put the source dvd in my dvd drive(player) and the blank media in the dvd burner (nec 3540) and not have to rip the movie to my hard drive?

    Thanks in advance,
    SMD

I was under the impression that anydvd was used for compressing dual layer dvd's onto single layer dvd's. is this easier than dvd decrypter. is it possible to make an exact copy of a dual layer with anydvd? is it possible to do it straight from another dvd player in my pc to my nec dvd burner in my pc without first ripping to the hard drive?

    thanks in advance,

AnyDVD does not compress the dvd. What it does is makes the dvd appear to be region free and without copy protection. Hence, it fools the PC into thinking the dvd is not copy protected.

You can do a direct copy with AnyDVD using your burning software from a another dvd drive to your dvd burner without ripping it to the hard drive. It will make an exact copy for you.
