i just wanna know what is the best dvd encoder that can encode to svcd or vcd? or converter?

There is no best - the best is the one that works for you.

I use TMPGEnc Plus, but CCE, Mainconcept and Procoder are some of the more common payware ones, while QuEnc seems to be a good free encoder.

If you're talking about going straight from DVD to VCD/SVCD then my preference is to use EazyVCD. It don't get any easier than that

There is no 'best'. There is only what is 'best' for you.

Define what you want to do, how complex you want things to be, how much you are willing to spend and how much effort you are willing to put into this and maybe someone can offer a few suggestions. But even so, there is no 'best'. If there was, all the others would be out of business!

Hmmm, I'm with Jim and Smurfie....there is no best encoder....they all do what they are designed to do......ie encoding MPEG2...to say TMPGenc is the best is stupid....teir interfaces/speed/nuances might well be different..but will one pocket calulator add 2+2 to make anything other than 4?.....and as Jim says I've also (and I dare say Smurfie) used/tried most of the common encoders and the end result is......well, 4....which is what it should be, no?


But.....TMPG for VCD's/mpeg1 is FREE...

I used to like TMPGenc but CCE SP is way faster and allow more passes..But quality too!!And I don't know why ppl are bitching and moaning about the interface, its better than nothing.....
