  1. i am thinking of buying one of these http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ModuleNo=-11683&doy=24m7,would be handy for cycling and skiving at work.but the only video it plays are .mpx files.it has a memory of 512 mb,which if it was .avi would be enough for a film, but what would the quality of a 90 minute .mpx file be like?cheers.

    Here's the players manufacturer: http://www.x-micro.com/videomp3.htm and a review: http://www.personaltechpipeline.com/reviews/164900866

Seems too much of an expensive toy. The screen is really small.

From one vendor "The video files takes around 10MB per minute . For example a 512MB MP3 video player can contain 30 minutes of video..."

However, not being familiar with the MPX format, I don't know the quality involved. 30 minutes seems a little short for 512MB. You might try to find more out about MPX. I have fit a regular length movie on a 700MB CD using XVID and the quality is fairly good. MPX should do as good or better considering the resolution doesn't have to be very high for that small of screen.
