as you can see im not very happy. since last year ive bought ritek g04's, and they worked beautifally. works in standalone, in pc, in console. im almost running out, only have a few left. ive tried looking on the internet (im in the uk) for these g04s but just cannot seem to find them. i wanted to know if g05s are just as good?
ive heard bad things about the g05's. ive also looked around for tayio's but they all come in a pack of 100. im only looking for a pack of 25 or 50. can anyone advise me on where to get g04's in the uk, or possibly better media.
p.s. i use pioneer a06/106d (1.07 hacked firmware)

The Verbatim Pastel 8x DVD-Rs in 5 packs are TY discs, you could try those to see how well they work. Alternatively, you could get a 25 pack of Verbatim 8x DVD-Rs which are good quality.

There seems to have been a decline in Riteks toward the end of the G04s, moving into the G05s going back 12-18 months now, if you believe everything you read on this site. I "made the change" to G05s when I couldn't get G04s any more and I haven't had any problems whatsoever on my Pioneer 107.
If in doubt, Google it. -
I'd say get Taiyo Yuden discs and stick with them. They cost more money, but they're worth it in the reliability. I used Ritek media for the last year and a half before making the switch, and the last couple batches of discs have left me less than impressed with the company. When they come to me sealed, perhaps I'm crazy, but I expect the surfaces to be free of debris and scuffs. That didn't happen with my last couple batches. Not to mention a few discs had errors show up when doing a read check on them. So far, the TY media has been flawless (and the discs were much better sealed and were completely free of dust and other abberations).
I can handle paying just under $1/disc for quality media. Heck, that's what Princos used to cost a couple years ago. -
You could try these peeps;
http://www.cd-rmedia.co.uk
they are the only peeps that i order my blanks and other consumables from.
good selection, good service, reasonable prices etc etc etc

FWIW, I went from G04s to G05s on one of my 106s and have had zero problems. Burned over 1000 G04s and probably 300 G05s on this one writer. My 108 also has no issue with G05s, or TYG02.
I say try a spindle of G05 and see how it goes. Make sure your f/w is up to date: www.rpc1.org
