In the near future i want to create a snowboarding/skateboarding website where i will try and sell some DVDs I will shoot. I will start by selling around 3-5 different titles. Since I have no idea if I will sell 1 or 1000 of each title I need someone to tell me what my options are regarding duplication. I was thinking of just burning them myself as I need them. Ideally they will be encrypted. Is it likely people buying my movies are going to have compatibility issues if I burn them my self? What about buying a DVD duplicator (this seems to be a more practical solution), any recommendations? Thanks very much for any help, I really need it.

Encryption requires the pruchase of license, probably on a per disk basis, and cannot be applied to burnt disks. The key is stored in a part of the disk that only a pressing plant can write to. Given that large parts of this site are dedicated to backing up encrypted disks, there is little to be gained by putting encryption on yours. The studio have invested heavily to little gain.

A duplicator is simply multiple burners in an array. If you are running off multiple copies, it might be worth the investment.

Using any method other than pressing disks will lead to some compatability problems. There are too many variables outsaide your control to guarantee every disk will play in every player. Expect some returns, and accept them with good grace.

As for mass-production options, I suggest you look at the ad pages in Digital Media World and Australian Personal Computer for local houses and get some quotes and specs.
