  1. I bought a LDA-531 and I want to convert it to SVCD. I've seen hacks posted in the DVD player listings for other LG players but will it work for mine? Is it a universal hack? This is where you have to change the EPROM settings and I don't want to mess around with that unless I know for sure.

    Thanks!

Hey, that device is a great deal. It plays so many different formats of files - if you're not having any problems with it, NO WAY should you risk updating the firmware for something like SVCD.

There's a way to fool your player so it thinks it's running a VCD when in fact it is playing an SVCD. You do it through the muxing menu in TMPGenc, basically remuxing your SVCD mpeg2 and choosing "VCD non-standard".

  3. My mistake, I thought I read where the 531 had to be hacked for SVCD. It plays SVCD just fine. This is an awesome player!

    Thanks,

    Jeff
