  1. I have read many posts regarding backup of dual layer discs and the setting or lack thereof, of layer switch instructions for burning software.
Im looking to burn an 8.3GB DVD video folder which Ive created in Tmpeg DVD Author.
    I have nero 6.3xxxx which supports d/l and a pioneer A09.
Is it worth giving it a go or does anyone have any other suggestions.

  2. I would convert the VIDEO_TS folder contents to ISO with IMGTools Classic and burn with DVDDecrypter if I used Dual Layer.

You will have problems burning 8.3GB.

Dual layer disks only support around 7.95GB:

Check into the firmware of your burner, and if you can set the book type of dvd+r dl to dvd-rom.This will make dvd+r dl compatable with most dvd players.Otherwise it's a crap shoot.I found software and firmware for my nec 3540 which allows me to do this and i haven't had a problem yet.

I've had success with a similar method (3 for 3 burning modified ISOs on Verbatim). I let DVD Decrypter choose the layer break, FYI.

PS - update your computer details to include the 109.

  6. DVDDecrypter is the best IMO.So if I buy Dual Layer just leave the setting as calculate optimal, right?

That's what I did. I can't find a player won't play my discs flawlessly (including players that choke on DVD+R - bitset or not).
